Privacy Policy

Smash Education Inc (“Smash Education”) take your privacy seriously.

This policy follows the guidelines of the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Québec Privacy Act.


  1. COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

    Smash Education is committed to keep your private information secure. We will not sell, share or rent any information you entered or submitted to Smash Education Inc. Smash Education reserves the right to use your score and statistics for monitoring and marketing purposes ; Smash Education Inc will keep your personal information linked to those score and statistics confidential.

    Child user (under 13): No identifiable information is required to be entered. If a child user is asked to create a Smash Education account as part of a school resource, we recommend that they follow their teacher’s, school’s or school board’s guidelines.

    Smash Education uses cookies to track the user’s activity during an active session (when the user is logged into his/her account).


    We do not use any tracking devices to track your usage of the Internet on other sites not operated by Smash Education.


    In the event of a sale, merger, or acquisition, we will require that the company or association has at the very least, same security standards and moral obligation to our users. We will notify every user by sending a notice to the email address that was provided to us by the user or by placing a notice on our website.


  2. SMASH EDUCATION ACCOUNTS

    Each user created in the system is the owner of their account. We do not delete anything unless requested by the user. At the end of a paid subscription, a user account is reverted to a free account or inactivated depending on the case. Users can upgrade their account by entering an activation code that will link him to his group that is part of a subscribed school.

    Smash Education Inc will never ask for your password, all passwords are encrypted in the database. Every user is responsible for his own password, please do not share your account and your password with anyone as someone could alter personal information of the account.


  3. UPDATING YOUR PERSONAL AND ACCOUNT INFORMATION

    ADMINISTRATOR AND TEACHER USERS: personal information that is provided by you to Smash Education during the creation of your account can be updated by you. In case you have trouble updating your information, you can contact our customer service department.


    STUDENT USERS THAT ARE LINKED TO A PRIVATE OR PUBLIC SCHOOL: Personal information that was provided by you, your parent/legal guardian, your teacher or school administrator during the creation of your account can be updated by your teacher or your school administrator.


  4. PERSONAL AND ACCOUNT INFORMATION RETENTION/DELETION

    STUDENT USERS THAT ARE LINKED TO A PRIVATE OR PUBLIC SCHOOL: All student accounts are

    deleted in August every year, deleting all data and information linked to the user. To delete their account, the student (or his/her parent/legal guardian) needs to make a request to the teacher during the paid subscription (this is to prevent accidental deletion that would erase of their school work, progress and grades).


    ADMINISTRATOR AND TEACHER USERS: We will retain your information until you contact our customer service department to delete your account. In case you want to delete your account, you can contact our customer service department.


  5. SECURITY BREACH

    In the event of a security breach, Smash Education will take reasonable steps to investigate the situation and take all steps required by laws/regulations/contractual agreements to remediate the breach. School boards/schools will be notified directly of any breach.


  6. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

This policy is effective November 7, 2022.

We will notify you about material changes to this Privacy Policy by sending a notice to the email address you provided to us or by placing a notice on our website
